First up...

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY. (Although I am technically 2 days late to be wishing that...)

I just got home from my second Taiwan getaway, this time, with the family.

I took significantly lesser pictures this time round because my brother's DSLR intimidates me...

Christmas was a tad special this year because I spent it with the best friend, as well as spending the last 6 hours of my favourite day of the year stuck in the airport and a very cramped airplane seat.

We literally toured AROUND Taiwan and not just Taipei city alone, which sounds fun, when actually, it is WAAYY too tiring. But, the family time spent was well worth it... I talked to my brother more than I've ever talked to him in the past year. :) It really means a lot.

It was actually a lot colder the last time I was there, except for the last 3 nights where it was literally freezing cold because of the chilly and everlasting wind.

Actually I realised, as I get older, I tend to appreciate more things because I understand how easy it is for us to neglect the fact we lead fortunate lives, to be born in the lives that we are living now, the good life. This is also the reason why I took lesser pictures because I don't want my memory to be based on the pictures I see from my Facebook account, but rather, from memory. I tried my best to remember everything that I can, even the coach's vehicle plate number: 639FF.

Taiwan is such a beautiful country, the people, the food and the surroundings. Life there is slow, unlike how life is here. The minute I got back, BOOM!! 4 messages telling me I have to report to school on Tuesday(technically today) because of blahblahblah. I hate Singapore sometimes.

Okay, here are some visuals that will lighten up the mood of this post :D

Right after we landed, we headed straight to some theme park. And when I say theme park, I actually really meant THEME park..

You see, everywhere we went to... Spongebob was there.

And after the entrance, we get greeted by gingerbread man and his friends :D

When we hear 'theme park', most of us associate it with the amusement park, a place where there are rides, kiddy and thrilling. But not to the Taiwanese, for they add animals, I mean real-life animals to the fun.

This was just one of the White Rhinos there, they had lions, tigers, giraffes, goats, buffalos, monkeys(many, many, many!), birds, and some others that I can't really recall now... But you get the picture, don't you?

And then, we arrived at the place where the rides were at.. And to be honest, they were all... BORING. Except for one, which you will read about in a bit. To side-track a little, I chanced upon this place/thing/model:

Yes, this horse-held-carriage-looking-thing. I am 98% certain it was featured in one episode of Meteor Garden (1)- The episode where Sancai and Dao Ming Si were on a date with Xiao You and her jerk of an ex-boyfriend to the amusement park... Where DMS punched him when he saw him(jerk bf) with another girl...

Coming back.......

THIS. IS. THE. MOST. THRILLING. RIDE. I'VE. TAKEN. TILL. DATE.

This!

You seat with your legs dangling, much like the Battlestar Galactica: Human vs Cylon ride @ USS, only thing the speed is roughly 1.75-2 times FASTER than that. And from the picture, if you see closely, the track ends right where the picture cuts, yes, it ends midway. So you fly up, and then the coaster retracts BACKWARDS, much like that Mummy ride @ USS except it MAINTAINS its speed, and then it goes up again, following a 'U' Shape, really. And then you DROP DOWN towards the other side of the U. The best part of this is that at the starting end of the track, it twists a little, so you go topsy turvy a little as you shoot up before it retracts down... Louis and I were seated at the front. Major orgasm!! I super love such rides!

To sum it all, this ride is a summation of:

{[Gmax( @ Clarke Quay) + Human + Cylon ] x 2}

Super good ride, if I was groggy from the 4.5 hour plane ride, this woke me up of my slumber, definitely.

Night time in Taiwan starts at 530pm, so when it was only 6 plus pm that Fatty came to find me @ the hotel before fetching me over to ShihLin night market for my long awaited cabbage pao. I know how unappetizing that sounds to you. But if you know what a shen jian bao, also known as pan fried pork bun is, which is this:

... the cabbage bao is simply the vegetarian version of it. :D

After that we hopped onto a cab with Louis back at the hotel room to go to "On Tap", which was a bar/pub in the heart of Taipei. We ordered a beer Tower:

...and started chilling. At first, it was awkward for ME, because I was drinking WITH my brother. Doesn't matter whether Fatty was there or not, just the thought of chilling with my brother was a weird enough thought, but it went surprisingly well!! Hahaha, I personally don't like beer so I had only 1.5 cups. The night was still young, so we decided to play darts.

I have never played darts before, so my first few tries either went straight to the ground, or even if it hit something, it was the button that was below the chart. But I was excited and determined to at least get some points, so here I am, all excited to beat the shit out of the other 2 guys, believing that "beginners luck" would fall on me.

...yup, that didn't happen. I lost.

The way he threw those darts... He could definitely kill a person if the chart happened to be one... EVERY DART TIP BROKE!!!!

Just imagine the strength...

My brother hit 3 bulls eye. Fatty managed 1.

I had NONE.

I love you always.

The next day, I was so tired, but the 2 hour bus ride allowed some sleep. That's the good thing about traveling in tour groups, you have MASSIVE time for rest. And we've reached:

Many things have been going on lately, I'm just gonna rant about this once, and then try my utter hardest to let it go.

Being in Council has been one of the toughest task I've taken up thus far.

Putting me in charge of Teachers' Day, it has had its pressure.

The thing I've come to learn is that,

ALL PLANS FAIL.

It is how fast/efficient you are to deal with the problem.

I am going to make sure that Teachers' Day is so well executed, though may not be as perfect as others would expect it to be, that you will shut the fuck up and reflect on how you can improve your own leadership skills.

Was being random the other day so I decided that Photobooth could be a way for me to waste some time...

Anyhow, the Semestral Assessments are finally over!! And the Continual Assessments are just a mere 4-6 weeks away.

I swear, it's the dumbest system-cum-plan ever to schedule examinations on the first day of a new term especially when we are given a month's worth of break.

I've been spiraling down and I'm so ashamed of it.

First, I've lost all motivation to lose weight and because of it, I've actually gained weight.

I know this is extremely superficial, and I kind of hate this self-esteem of mine.

But who cares, anyway?

I guess along the way, I've already lost myself.

There kind of is no purpose in me doing the things that I do nowadays.

If I knew that life would be like this, I would rather not be given the chance to live it because I simply am not happy about it, knowing that there are so many people out there who can live their dreams/ do what their hearts desire/ be free from education/ enjoy living their lives.

I hate being a Singaporean.

I am in this state of nostalgia I guess I might well blog about it to let it out.

I wish I didn't have to grow up, I hate growing up. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy learning new things, being exposed to new people though it hasn't been turning out so well since the people in school are either weirdos, or simply too self-centered and extremely not worth my time making alliances with.

I wish I wasn't living in Singapore. Honestly, the life of a Singaporean is like this:

When you are born, your freedom is literally cut off, along with your umbilical cord.

Just when you learn how to construct your first sentence, you're sent to a child care center. Before you know it, you're in kindergarden, and then whee, you grad out of that shithole and you find yourself in some primary school. Then comes your first examination, of which you either just managed to pass, or fail and in extreme cases, pass with flying colours of which at this point I would suspect your parents signed you up for extra tuition. Then comes the part of your life where all you remember is going to school, then tuition then an hour at the playground, home for dinner and then the rest of the night you are awake will be spent on completing your homework.

Instead of telling you that you're young and carefree, all you hear growing up is " Study hard so when you grow up you can earn enough money to make a good living for yourself and your family ".

And because of this phrase, you strive and hope for the bloody best you get accepted into a local university to weave off unnecessary expenditure on overseas education that costs a bomb.

So there, I could have just summed that all up in a simple 7 worded phrase: You simply grew up in different schools. But I chose not to because from there, you can see how caught up we are, how suffocating it is for some, and the desire to break free from all this is pretty obvious.

I just wished life was more carefree.

Such a cruel world.

So, I haven't been blogging much lately because I kind of lost the interest to do so. It's the final week of my holiday and boy am I dreading it. I haven't been studying AT ALL. And if I can even complete my exam, it'd be a miracle made on Earth, Mars and Venus.

Actually, I've had so much alone time with myself, I've come to the conclusion that being on the internet gives me unnecessary stress. Especially Facebook. So that's why I've been relatively inactive there. People who can be online every single damn day... That calls for R.E.S.P.E.C.T

Yes, this is a rather mundane post. But I hope my flame for blogging rekindles so there's one more thing you haters can bitch about and another extra topic for lovers to talk about. :)

Hey all, this is going to be (yet another) wordy post. So skip this if you wanna.

So here's my family.

That's Louis, me, Daddy and Mommy.

Honestly I cannot imagine myself being someone else's daughter or sister because this family has been so wonderful to me.

Trust me, I myself, am shocked that I'm typing this entry because never had I imagined myself to say something like that especially when Louis and I used to be on extremely bad terms.

I guess it's one of the times when you think that your sibling does not understand a single shit you're going through and whatever that comes out from their mouth is nonsense/ retarded and totally not worth you paying attention to.

And of course, the parents... They don't know me. They don't know what shit I'm facing in my life. All they care about is work. They have never been my support. Trust me when I say I've been there, done that. Guilty as charged.

But I kinda matured I guess. I'm not that childish anymore. Not that self-centered, not that ignorant.

In case you're new here, I'm currently in a junior college and am hating every second of it.

I hate that all I do is STUDY STUDY STUDY and even during my breaks all I think about is homework homework homework. Recently, thoughts about being happy are always on my mind because I am not happy with life.

When I have the spare time to watch the telly, I see talented people, living their dreams. I look at myself in the mirror and say. You pathetic creature. Just torturing yourself in school. Not even excelling. Can't even make the best out of it. Miserable.

Days like these when I am low-spirited, I find myself on the verge of tears. It's as if no one can touch me cause if they do, the weeping does not stop.

I don't even know if any of this is making sense to you but I feel that I need to establish this.

I would not be able to be (barely) determined to continue JC life if not for my Ohana(family).

Daddy is always coming into my room to ask if I can manage. Just now, he came in and stroked my head. In the most comforting manner, he asked if I was coping well. And I said no.

And guess what he told me to do?

He told me to rest. He said that whatever I'm doing now is not important. I need a break.

Just knowing that my father cares more about my emotions rather than results means so much to me because I find that my drive to continue studying is not because I need the results to impress my parents, but rather I realise I'm doing all this, going through all the motions of stress, to train myself and to prove that I can do this.

Mommy never fails to make sure I eat because of my tendency to be too absorbed in work that I forget to eat. The subtle things she does for me... Can never be more thankful.

In the mornings, she prepares breakfast for me, with love.

Honestly, how many of you can say that you wake up to have home-made breakfast, before being driven to school?

And Louis... The brother I once thought I never had. Just so grateful that he's looking out for me. To constantly remind me to study hard. And to randomly buy things for me, unique, nautical things that will make my day.

This family. My love for them is simply priceless.

Photobooth. Today was well-spent. Busted 40 plus $$ at Sasa on God knows what... Actually I know what I bought, just too guilty to mention them. For example the 10 masks, some gel eye mask that looked extremely cute (no kidding), oil blotters, concealer... and... stickers. Hahahaha, we were strutting down Haji Lane and I realise, it's not a place I'd be in. There's just too much chiffon and satin clothes that are totally from a different planet than I am.

Experiencing really bad Monday Blues because once again the topic of 'why does my life suck so bad' has re-surfaced.

Why do we question our self-worth?

Honestly, the only phrase in my head right at this moment is "I don't know."

Do you ever notice that there is this little voice in your head? For instance, when you're in a shop looking at something... Attractive... Do you ask yourself, "Should I get this? "

Or you're at an eatery and you ask yourself, "What should I eat? " Or maybe during the day, "What should I do later? "

Well, if you haven't been attentive, there's nothing much I can say. But lately, MY inner voice seems to be getting louder and louder with each passing day, as if trying to make known something. But the annoying part to this is I don't know what it is... Confusing? Tell me about it.

When I'm alone in my room, I realise I talk to myself, but no, I don't talk out loud to myself, instead, it's more of.. I listen to my own thoughts.

Just today, I finally realise that the underlying reason why I feel sad/down/even depressed these days is because I miss my carefree days in the past. Days that I can spend weeks on end staying at Regina's house, days that I loll in her bed and not bathe (for 3 days), days that I spend with Jasmine and Lester and Regina, painting walls, days that I stay at Andrea's house and all we did was watch Disney Channel, do some art, paint powerpuff girls on T-shirts, playing blind mice with Uncle Paul, I miss being young, I miss being carefree.

And truth be told, I only started thinking about life after O levels. And I really don't know why all these thoughts start gushing in my mind like they have a mind of their own. I started thinking about the future. The typical, what do I want to do, what do I want to be etc etc...

Guess what... My answer to ALL of those questions are the same.

I. Don't. Know.

I'm so confused right now I feel like just sleeping away, I'm so darn tired, tired about thinking. Tired about caring...

I feel that I'm drifting away, from my family, my friends and even myself and I know this sounds weird, but it is true. How are YOU supposed to feel knowing that you're drifting away from the most important people/matters in your life?

You don't know how to feel, do you? Obviously besides feeling sad, lost, etc ( which is exactly how I feel now )

The excuse I'm giving to myself is that these are all feelings, feelings that will fade with time.

But I really want to know, how can I cope with these feelings because HELLO, I'm not exactly doing well here, am I?

So to end this post, is to conclude that I am in very low morales, very depressing mood, totally not enjoying life, totally not embracing whatever life is throwing at me right now.

My current moods revolve around: Sad, annoying, angry, angst, lost, depressed, negative.

Right now, I don't think I deserve to feel loved. If I can't love myself, how can anyone else do? I need to recollect my thoughts, organise myself, set myself back on track. Till then, I guess, only time will tell. Good night.

So the one week break has officially ended. I. Dread. School.

To some extent, I question my existence in a JC too often that it scares me... Because if I can't see my future/goal, how am I supposed to work towards it, no?

And then comes all the personal issues I have, to start, it's gonna be close to a year since I turned vegetarian, and the pounding question of whether I should continue doing this or if I should take one notch up and be a full vegan has been meddling with my thoughts for a while now...

Consuming dairy products just feels sinful and I don't know how I can put it in words for you people to understand. Yeah, you can laugh about how un-vegetarian I look like etc, but I really don't care.

Don't you think that animals have their rights to? Just because they can't speak, just because they are not intelligent enough to come up with an escape route or just because humans have the ability to breed them doesn't mean they can be bred on such a large scale only to be old/ suitable enough to be killed and processed...

Why do I not see humans giving birth just so their offsprings are old/suitable enough to be killed and then processed to be eaten by fellow humans?

Forget it, it's pointless. I'm so tired of trying to get people to understand why I think of all these in the first place...

Today started off great, dragged my ass out of the bed in hopes of being on time to reach Plaza Sing cause I had a group project to complete. Lo and behold!! Dave texted saying he was too tired and would do ALL the work when he gets up. But I didn't want him to finish it all up himself ( it's a group work if you didn't know ). But no, he chose to 1. ignore ALL my calls. 2. ignore ALL my texts. 3. Reply 1 hour later saying he dozed off EVEN though I called him a minute after his last text...

So now, it's only 1045am, I'm up, and determined to do econs. BUT( There are always buts ), I GET NO SHIT from all the notes. In dire need of help right now... :( I don't understand elasticity. :( At all......................

Today's been the most tiring day of my life since the year kicked off.

So I'm just spent my 17th birthday with the most important people in my life ( excluding the family + cousin ).

If I didn't know what bliss felt like, I do now.

Started off the day by completing my Econs homework, but to skip to the fun part? Now that's easy.

Went to Canele to say hi, saw SO many new faces it's AWKWARD X1000.

Then the guys picked me up at Paya Lebar to go to the Botanic Gardens in an attempt to 'fly kite'.

When we reached, I was blindfolded for a good 10 - 15 minutes, along the way bumping into light posts, tripping on my own feet, and steps, screaming... You get it.

The rest of the story will eventually unfold when you look at the pictures. The day ended with 8 of us playing L4D2 :)

Simple and just the way I like it.

And to continue from my abrupt blog post last night,

the family got me a Macbook :) And a bouquet of my favourite flowers.

School is taking a toll on me and today is only Tuesday.

I mercilessly end at 5pm 2 days a week and to think I come from the Arts stream. So much for being more 'slack'.

My civics group is turning out to be more fun than I expected it to be and as much as I dread school, I'm conflicting with myself because I kinda am looking forward to chillin' with da mates.

By the way, Huiying, Chuwen, Yujing and I will be having a booth at the FLB No.5 flea which falls on Saturday(this).

Headed down to Hooked On Flea today, bought a total of 12 rings, 9 of which went to the clique girls. :) In that instant of impulse, I just decided to bomb the remainings of my cash on them... So now I have to force myself to not withdraw until the paycheck comes through. Now, that sucks. :(

After chilling at Mrs Fields, G, R and I headed to DEQ's house for his advanced 19th birthday. It's 330am and I just came back from supper. Life is too good. I can only wished it'd be like this for more to come.

Wake up in the morning

Day 3

We woke up a little earlier just so we could return to Wufenpu to do a little shopping.

But before that, we woke up starved, or at least I did, so we seeked comfort in sushi!!

I stole a few tea bags from the restaurant thinking I could use a warm cup of green tea every morning, but I kinda forgot it was there until I returned home, in Singapore. LOL.

So day 3 was a little mundane except for the fact we headed to Wanhua in the evening where they filmed the movie Monga. Hahaha, just felt 'cool' being there, so why not right?

At the same place, we checked out Snake Alley, which was really just a stretch of restaurants which sell snake products, Louis' heaven.

Well it was a no photography area. But I'm Hazel, so I didn't really care. I needed to include my brother in my experience!!

We ended the night being very 'local' by going prawning, I didn't prawn because it would be against my will since I turned vegetarian mainly so I stop killing animals for my own purpose.

So this is the poster which made me want to look EXACTLY like him. No, I do not like Show Luo, I just wanted to pose like him... To 'show my style'. LOL. Video of that, later.

Day 4

This day, it was all about me. I wanted to go to Danshui to eat my shuaqiling (double flavoured ice-cream in direct translation?) Well because I watched Devil by your side a few years ago and they were eating this tall ice cream from Danshui and I vowed to visit that place to eat it.

Well, we rode up to the coastal area, and not only did it begin to rain, the temperature dropped drastically and the winds only got stronger by the seconds.

Because I acted hero, I only wore two layers, one thermal and my hoodie, I got us, all 4 of us, including Chihkai's cousin, freezing our asses off.

HOWEVER!!! Though we didn't get to eat the ice cream because it was too cold to even be sold, I got my dreamcatchers. :) :) :) :) And my sail :) :) :) :)

It was a very sailory day for me, at least. :p The night of day 4 saw us hanging out at Chihkai's cousin's pub aka Amigo, which was a very fun experience... His cousin super step, you see. :) Likes to show off, an eye-opener.

Well we found a candy shop at Danshui which sold old school candies like mini nerds for 5 cents. :)

Wanting to start again

Day 1 and 2 of living DA LIFE.

Reg and I barely slept a wink cause both of us were down with fever + sore throat. Met up at the airport and as soon as we bade farewell to daddy and Michelle, we BOBBED our heads, telling each other 'WE'RE SO COOL' because we were finally making our dream come true.

You see, when I was 13, I was in love with Fahrenheit ( Otherwise known as Fei Lun Hai ) and so I made a pact with Reg that we'd go to Taiwan to find them. Obviously that didn't come true then because we were both young and stupid. However, this time round, I don't even remember how I managed to convince both my parents to allow Reg and I to travel to Taiwan, ALONE.

To cut the long story short, we were both excited at the thought that we'd be travelling together, alone in Taiwan. Of course, my best friend, Chih Kai who happens to be a local, will bring us around.

We touched down a little after 4pm and when we eventually reached our hotel which was located at Ximending, it was close to 5pm. The sun was already down by the time we settled down and so before meeting Chih Kai, Reg and I explored the district right down stairs( In picture #2) :)

So then Chih Kai came back on his bike, and left it at the hotel, then we took a train over to Shih Lin Night market. So cliche right? BUT IT REALLY IS A MUST GO. After that, we basically went back, shagged. Flight and walking... Kinda killed us. :P

In Hongkong, my Bro was saying how he wished he could take picture with a policemen because they look exactly like how they look in Hongkong dramas, so when I chanced upon this security guy who dressed like a policeman, I asked if I could take a picture with him, and he gladly agreed!! :)

My first meal was this potato cheese thing which was a hot seller apparently... And they cater to Vegetarians!! Waited for close to half hour though... But it was all worth it. :) :)

THEN, I COULDN'T NOT TRY THEIR CABBAGE SHENG JIAN BAO ( otherwise known as friend pork buns )

It brought me up to cloud 9, NO DOUBT.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. CANNOT MAINTAIN FOR NUTS.

All of the cute doggies and pussies... were found in the pet alley. They were selling Sugar Gliders, Tarantulas, Scorpions, Chameleons and Hedgehogs too... Louis' heaven.

Day 2 was just us going to Wufenpu and walking around Zhongxiao dunlu, which saw us walking past shops that were closed.

Apparently, I was very amused they had a breastfeeding room~

Salty doujiang for breakfast. It was so good, actually all the food we had there was fabulous because we only looked for food when we were famished. HAHAHAHA.

And this is where Chih Kai works in. The burgers there are good, and they have veggie burgers too!

Zhongxiao dunlun is really like Haji lane, with graffiti-ed walls etc, decided to take some pictures. :)

After checking this lomography shop, I was determined to google the correct way to load my film in my Desderi camera. AKA the 4 lens camera.

Let's just say I'm finally back from the most fulfilling trip I've been on yet. :)

Well, the results were released today when I was on the flight home, so other than that, nothing much happened except a wave of emotions ranging from ecstatic to helplessness.

Will blog about the trip after I sort all the pictures, and most importantly, catch some sleep...

So there you have it, how the last seconds of 2010 and the wee hours of 2011 was spent.

We walked in total for more than 3 hours, coupled with the fact I worked 12 hours before meeting the group...

Caught the first train home. More like squeezed into the train, came home, bathed, slept for 6 hours, woke up to work for another 8 hours. Bombed sia.

My flight to Taiwan is in another 13 hours. Can't wait till I get to see my fat friend,

One year ago, I was so happy, I probably felt like I was the happiest and luckiest girl in the world.

But I guess 'happier' and 'luckier' is more superior than 'happiest' as well as 'luckiest', isn't it?

To be honest I was doing something really dumb. Eg, reminiscing the past, looking into my archieves, etc. I realised that I was once so in love. And how very true it is, that when you're in love, telling it to others or saying out loud doesn't sound naive or should I say retarded...

But now, when I'm not in a relationship, hearing people say they are in love or listening to how they see their futures together etc makes me wanna tell them that: " YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE RELATIONSHIP!!! NO ONE DOES!!! "

But I guess the difference is that, mine is an outsider's point of view while theirs... In a biased light.

But whatever it is... This Christmas, I be making sure I'm happier. I can't wait for Sunday... Clique, A and colleagues. Hehe, getting all excited thinking about it...

Anyway, I was on ASOS for a really long time and I can't find a decent cropped or normal top that's of my liking...
